Drupal 4.7 Released.

Drupal 4.7 Released!

This has been a heroic effort by everyone, and this is the Greatest version of Drupal yet. This release has had the most changes every for any release, and the most contributors.

So where does this leave E-Commerce. Well as I have said since I took over the maintenance that I (we) would be aiming to release E-Commerce 1 month after 4.7 was released. So now the the timer is ticking, and we should have a release by June 1.

This is quite approprate that today before 4.7 was released I posted to the E-Commerce group a request for ideas on what people would like to see in 4.8. Go and see http://groups.drupal.org/node/248 to see what has been added, and add more to it.

E-Commerce Mailing list

Posted by gordon on Fri, 17/03/2006 - 3:07pm

I have created a new mail list to help with the development of E-Commerce so we can create the best E-Commerce when we release the 4.7 version.

To join the mail list go to

http://lists.heydon.com.au/listinfo.cgi/ecommerce-heydon.com.au

Here we will be talking about development and processes for E-Commerce. Once Dries gets back from holiday I will be discussing more with him about getting this moved to drupal.org.

Also on freenode there has been set up a new IRC chat area #drupal-ecommerce which should also help.

great problems with cvs

Posted by gordon on Fri, 17/02/2006 - 10:53am

Well over the past couple of days I have had great fun with the what is labeled as the 4.7 download of E-Commerce on drupal.org.

What happened is that someone taged a contrib module as 4.7 and then d.o now thinks that there is a 4.7 version and creating basically a empty archive.

If you want to give 4.7 a try download the cvs version of E-Commerce and give it a go.

The more testers we have the better it will be.

E-Commerce 4.7 can now complete checkout

Posted by gordon on Mon, 06/02/2006 - 5:23pm
Well I have been doing a little more work on getting E-Commerce to work with 4.7. Well today I have managed to get it to complete the checkout without any errors.

There are still a few contrib modules that need to be completed, but I think we can start seriously start testing it under Drupal 4.7

Everyone that has helped so far, Thanks for all you help.

E-Commerce Update.

Posted by gordon on Tue, 24/01/2006 - 11:45am

Well the updates to the E-Commerce module is coming along great. A few days ago we had the product module working, and after a little bit of bug fixing for PHP5, I managed to get it all running, and I was able to create products.

This morning I spent a little time and got the checkoutapi working (well sort of) and now you can get all the way though to the review page without an error. There needs to be some work on the tax module, and then we should be able to create transactions.

There is a lot of things that need to be worked on.

To all those people who have helped out so far. Thanks very much but there is still plenty of work to do.

ecommerce update

Posted by gordon on Fri, 20/01/2006 - 5:09pm

Well, E-Commerce is comming along very well, Nedjo has done some great work and now you can create products. We have streamlined the product creation process so that it is not a 2 step process anymore which has made the code and flow a lot simplier.

I have done a little testing and now, we need to get some of the other modules working.

On a side note it has been darn hot here today, I am cooking in my office at 37 degrees. I hope the change comes though soon.

E-Commerce store module

Posted by gordon on Sun, 08/01/2006 - 4:32pm

Well I have done a bit of work this weekend on building updating ecommerce to use the new forms api. The store module is basically complete now. However I do need to refactor some of the methods of doing things such as the admin/store so that it can uses the new _validate() and _submit() functions to do the updating.

Using these will be a lot nicer that the current method.

I still need to find someone to convert the product module, this will need a large amount of refactoring esp because of how the wizard works. Maybe I should find out about the wizardapi that was created for the drupal installer. I do hope I can find someone as this is going to be a big change.

E-Commerce road to 4.7

Posted by gordon on Sat, 07/01/2006 - 11:22am

I have just released a call for help to the Drupal communitity to help update the E-Commerce system so that it is ready for Drupal 4.7 and a couple of other changes.

If anyone can help please contact me at gordon@heydon.com.au to help coordinate the changes.

Big things are happening.

Posted by gordon on Fri, 16/12/2005 - 12:56pm

Since last Friday there has been a lot of stuff that has happened in my little world. I can't explain everything yet but I will soon.

For now I can tell you that I am now the maintainer of Drupal E-Commerce. This is going to be a lot of work, as I need to get it ready fro Drupal 4.7, and make the changes to support the formsapi.

There is 31 modules that need to be converted as quickly as possible so we can start testing. Drupal 4.7 is going to be one of the biggest jumps in functionality that Drupal has seen in quite a while. With all the new autocomplete, free tagging, and a lot of speedups and api changes it is quite hard for module maintainers to keep up.

I have also been looking though some of ecommerce an I think there is some other things that need to be consolidated or are now obsolete and can be done with drupal core commands now.

I am going to be looking at the store module in ecommerce this weekend and hopefully this will help kick start other people working on other module so we can get this completed.

Lastly my little module filestore2, also needs upgrading, and as soon as I can I will update it to use the formsapi.

Watch this space for more information.
