Well over the past couple of days I have had great fun with the what is labeled as the 4.7 download of E-Commerce on drupal.org.
What happened is that someone taged a contrib module as 4.7 and then d.o now thinks that there is a 4.7 version and creating basically a empty archive.
If you want to give 4.7 a try download the cvs version of E-Commerce and give it a go.
Well I have been doing a little more work on getting E-Commerce to work with 4.7. Well today I have managed to get it to complete the checkout without any errors.
There are still a few contrib modules that need to be completed, but I think we can start seriously start testing it under Drupal 4.7
Everyone that has helped so far, Thanks for all you help.
As we all know Leo Laporte uses Drupal for the site TWiT, and when I was flicking though the channels and Call for Help was on and Drupal got honourable mention in the Answers to your questions on looking good in all browsers.
It is only small, but if you can get a hold of #284, it is quite cool.
Well the updates to the E-Commerce module is coming along great. A few days ago we had the product module working, and after a little bit of bug fixing for PHP5, I managed to get it all running, and I was able to create products.
This morning I spent a little time and got the checkoutapi working (well sort of) and now you can get all the way though to the review page without an error. There needs to be some work on the tax module, and then we should be able to create transactions.
There is a lot of things that need to be worked on.
To all those people who have helped out so far. Thanks very much but there is still plenty of work to do.
Well, E-Commerce is comming along very well, Nedjo has done some great work and now you can create products. We have streamlined the product creation process so that it is not a 2 step process anymore which has made the code and flow a lot simplier.
I have done a little testing and now, we need to get some of the other modules working.
On a side note it has been darn hot here today, I am cooking in my office at 37 degrees. I hope the change comes though soon.
Well I have been working for myself for 1 week. I am really loving it. I just have so much more freedom that what I use to have, and I don't have to spend between 2 and 3 hours in the car every day.
I love being able to spend a little bit more time with my kids. Today I spent a little time before lunch pushing Samantha on the swing. I couldn't do that for as long as Sam wanted me to, but no one could do that.
I should really put up a sound bite of Sam asking to be pushed on the swing, it is quite funny.
Yesterday we went to High Point so that I could spend my gift
voucher from my old work, that I have been given as a leaving
gift. I brought the Long Way Round and a
couple of other books.
We had been watching it on Arena for the last couple of weeks,
and Sarah and I were just loving it. Even though there were still a couple of episodes left we just couldn't wait. So last night we finished the last few episodes.
Then because I had missed the first couple of episodes, late last night I watched these as well. It was just great, and I would highly recommend watching it. Even if you are not into motor bikes.
Also take a look at the offical web site, which I feel is a bit disappointing because it is all in flash.
Well I have done a bit of work this weekend on building updating ecommerce to use the new forms api. The store module is basically complete now. However I do need to refactor some of the methods of doing things such as the admin/store so that it can uses the new _validate() and _submit() functions to do the updating.
Using these will be a lot nicer that the current method.
I still need to find someone to convert the product module, this will need a large amount of refactoring esp because of how the wizard works. Maybe I should find out about the wizardapi that was created for the drupal installer. I do hope I can find someone as this is going to be a big change.
I have just released a call for help to the Drupal communitity
to help update the E-Commerce system so that it is ready for
Drupal 4.7 and a couple of other changes.
If anyone can help please contact me at [email protected] to help
coordinate the changes.
Over the last month I have had a lot of very exciting things happen.
Firstly I am now the maintainer of the Drupal E-Commerce module, and I have been evaluating, and working out exactly where it is at over the last couple of weeks and how I am going to do my first task which is to put out the 4.7 release. The biggest issue with this is that there is a huge update to allow for the new formsapi which is really cool. I have been doing a lot of learning when it comes to this as well.
The other big announcement is that from 11th of Jan 2006, I am going to be consulting full time on Drupal and related projects. This is very exciting for me, and I have been getting a lot of enqiries, and everything is looking really good.
So over the next couple of weeks I am going to be reorganising my site and I will be changing the focus to be directed towards Drupal and the consulting. So something will be moving a bit. I will not be stopping my blog, but now instead of being on the front page, they will be on the blogs page.
